Step into a world of pure imagination! The Cresset is thrilled to announce open auditions for the magical, musical adventure Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! We’re seeking enthusiastic performers—both children and adults—to bring this beloved story to life on stage.
Directed by Stuart Morrison & Monique Benoiton-Smith, this production offers performers, aged 9+, an opportunity to showcase their talents on stage. Open auditions for the ensemble will take place on May 14th – 18th.
Monique said: “This will be the Cresset’s third in-house musical production and from the high standard of talent that we had for Nativity and School of Rock, we are really excited to start the search for excellent local performers to take on these well-known and loved characters.
These productions create amazing opportunities and experiences for local performers, with the successful performers going on to rehearse with a professional creative team.”

Weds, 14th May –
- 00pm – 7.30pm Ensemble (9 – 18 year olds)
- 30pm – 9.00pm Principles (recalls from ensemble auditions)
Thurs, 15th May –
- 00pm – 7.30pm Ensemble (9 – 18 year olds)
- 30pm – 9,00pm Principles (recalls from ensemble auditions)
Saturday, 17th May –
- 30am – 2pm Adult principle auditions
Sunday, 18th May –
- 00am – 4.00pm Adult & Children principle recalls (invitation only – specific timings to be confirmed)

Audition Information:
- Auditions are free to participate.
- Check-in opens 30 minutes before the audition slot.
- Auditionees should be prepared for a 20-30 minute audition slot, including singing, movement, and script reading.
- Rehearsals will commence in September and will occur on Wednesday evenings starting in September. Principle performers will also be required for some Monday evening rehearsals. There are also occasional weekend rehearsals scheduled. Exact timings and schedule will be confirmed after auditions.
